Kenny Chesney Charts His Own Course with ‘Silver Sands Marina’

Kenny Chesney has spent a career singing about salt air, sunsets, and the kind of places you never want to leave. This fall he’s giving fans a whole new harbor to drop anchor in: Silver Sands Marina, his 21st album, arrives September 25.

It’s a milestone record for more than the number. Silver Sands Marina is the first release on Chesney’s own independent label, Hey Now Records — a big step for an artist who’s spent decades as one of the genre’s biggest arena-fillers. After all these years, one of country’s most reliable hitmakers is now calling his own shots.

The album is an 11-song set produced by Chesney and his longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon, and it’s stacked with talent. The tracklist pulls from a who’s-who of Nashville songwriters — Shane McAnally, Matraca Berg, Brett James, Tenille Townes and more — and features guest turns from Colbie Caillat, Lily Meola, and rising star Megan Moroney.

So far Chesney has shared two tastes of what’s coming: the opening single “Carry On” and the breezy title track, “Silver Sands Marina,” inspired by a real marina tucked away in New Hampshire. Both carry that unmistakable Chesney feeling — laid-back, sun-warmed, and built for a long summer night with the windows down.

For No Shoes Nation, this one has all the makings of another chapter worth cranking up. New label, same open water. Silver Sands Marina lands September 25 — and we’ll have it spinning on Highway Country.
